Dr. Harry Fowler

Dr. Harry Fowler has been in ministry 60 years and has served as a Church Growth Consultant, Pastor, Executive Director and Founder of Youth on Mission, Church Planter, and authored four books. He currently resides in Rocky Mount, NC and has received recognition from the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention for planning mission trips for over 60,000 volunteers over a 20 year period to serve on volunteer mission trips. He has served as Interim Pastor of 10 churches.

When Harry retired at age 66, he wondered what he would do with all his time. That is when Southside Baptist Church, located in downtown Rocky Mount, NC, asked him to preach for 2 Sundays and he ultimately stayed for 7 years. During this time the church experienced miraculous growth. From almost closing the doors, they relocated and saw attendance grow from 100 to 305 in one week. Seating capacity initially in the new facility was 200. Almost immediately plans were made to enlarge the facility to 400. In the next few years, Southside baptized 100+ people and added 300+ new members. They witnessed growth like they had never anticipated. Southside used advertising, mass mail, special events to attract visitors and also a Fall Festival event that attracted over 3,000 in attendance.

Harry felt God leading him to write the story of what happened. He wanted to share what God had done to as many pastors who would read the story. After 7 years, he retired again at age 74. After retiring from Southside, Dr. Fowler served two years as assistant pastor at Englewood Baptist Church, and two years as assistant to the President at NC Wesleyan University.
